Revenge first. Feelings were not part of the plan.
Kristine's boyfriend has been cheating with her best friend, and coasting on her brains the whole time. So she goes to his rich uncle Henry and evens the score. Henry knows exactly what he is being used for, because Kristine tells him outright. What neither of them arranges for is any of it turning real.
