The story
She saves his life. Months later she is engaged to his nephew.
Alaina pulls William out of a car accident that nearly kills him, and he makes her a promise in return. Months later he sees her again at his nephew Jason's engagement party, and the woman Jason is marrying is her. William keeps what he feels to himself and gives her a family heirloom instead. Then Jason betrays her and she calls the engagement off. Her grandmother's Alzheimer's is worsening and there is a wedding the old woman still wants to see, so Alaina asks William for a secret marriage lasting one year.
