The story
The adopted son they cast out volunteered to save them all.
Timothy grew up in the wealthy Snyder family devoted to his three older sisters, until their biological son Matthew came back and lied until they turned on him. Blamed for things that were never his, thrown out, Timothy keeps repaying them anyway. He saves them, he gives things up for them, and then he quietly puts his name down for Project Hail Mary, the mission that sends one person with a rare gene out to find humanity somewhere else. They only learn what Matthew did, and what Timothy did, once he is already gone.
