Carl was Ark Base's chief research supervisor until developing a zombie cure against Kevin's orders got him exiled. He survives outside with his eight year old daughter Nancy, and when a horde attacks, she is bitten protecting him. Nancy turns. Carl does not let go. He becomes the most unlikely father in the apocalypse, protecting his zombie daughter at any cost.
