Kane Mercer used to sit at number one on the Ledger, the underground's registry of its best killers. Three years ago he quit, and he's been driving freight like any ordinary guy out in the American Southwest ever since. Then crime boss Victor Crowe slaughters an entire outfit and puts a price on Tessa Cross, daughter of that outfit's boss. Kane is the one trusted to keep her alive, and it means dusting off everything he'd left behind. Crowe answers by pushing the bounty up to three million, and the best killers in the business start coming.
