The story
Sixteen years of friendship, and he tied her to a goalpost.
Eleanor Vance and Leo Carter grew up together, right up to the day he knocks her out and strings her up as a prank to impress Savannah. Humiliated in front of the entire school, Ellie transfers to California without saying goodbye. There she finds real friends, does well, and meets someone who treats her properly. Leo loses his mind with regret back home, which is his to carry, because Ellie has worked out that some betrayals do not get forgiven.
