Iris loses her mother and her American stepfather in a crash on the way to their wedding, and rather than watch her be deported, Leon, her stepfather's son, drops out and takes on the whole financial weight himself. Leaning on each other turns into something else. She gets into a New York law school as planned and he promises to follow, and on the last day there is an accident on the site and they lose contact. Five years later she is at a top firm, and Leon walks in.
