The story
They faked bankruptcy to find out who actually loved them.
Hannah and her husband stage the collapse, with him pretending to be paralysed after a stroke, and the results are unambiguous. Their biological son Thomas and his wife refuse to help and turn them out. Their adopted son Theo and his wife give up everything they have to save him. So the fifty million dollar fortune goes to Theo, Thomas loses the lot, and the lesson about what family is built on arrives far too late.
