The story

Sera scrubs floors at an academy that trains dragon riders, and she is the lowest servant in the place. Everyone knows why. Her blood is tainted, and a dragon would sooner die than bond with a girl like her. So nobody is ready for the day that same poison blood cracks open the legendary Sovereign dragon egg. The maid they stepped over is suddenly the one person in the realm nobody can afford to ignore, and the lords who used to look straight through her now want her dead before she works out what she can do. Sera has a fate her blood has been promising all along, and a long list of people to make pay for every day they wronged her.
