The story
The groom she thought was dead turns up with another fiancee.
Alice is supposed to marry Archer, but he never reaches their wedding. The rumor is that an explosion killed him while he was fighting a fire. Her parents have another man in mind for her, and their choice is Philip, a sleazy suitor they want her to marry. Then Archer appears at this second wedding. Alice finally has the man she thought she had lost in front of her, except he is engaged to somebody else.
