Neil owes Keira's father a debt, so he signs a secret contract: five years of marriage, and help getting her over Simon, her first love. Keira never learns the contract exists. For five years he looks after her, and she treats him as a stand in for the man she actually wants. Then the marriage ends, and she finally understands what she had.
