The story
Her husband never let go of Riley. She's the one who paid for it.
Katherine married Eric, but Eric never really ended things with Riley, and Katherine has suffered for it ever since. She puts up with the pain because she loves him deeply and because she carries guilt of her own. Then, when she least expects it, she's pregnant again. Eric goes right on ignoring her and hurting her anyway. For the sake of the child they lost, Katherine finally decides to divorce him.
