The story
Engaged to one Kingsley brother. Saved the life of the other.
Rowena was left on her own for sixteen years, and now she's back in New York to claim the inheritance her mother left her. Her cover is a fake engagement to the younger Kingsley son, with a breakup already planned for when she's done. Then she saves his older brother, Damien Kingsley, when the mafia comes for him. Damien is intrigued, and he pushes his way into her life without asking. Her scheming family keeps setting traps for her, and the ruthless Mrs. Kingsley sets a few of her own. Rowena and Damien start out as enemies and end up on the same side, digging into a murder nobody has explained. She came to New York for her mother's money, not a Kingsley, but Damien isn't taking no for an answer.
