The story
Her own father sold her into the trap.
Anna waits tables and needs money for her sick mother's treatment, and Richard hands her to an East Side crime boss expecting that to be the end of it. She fights her way out with the evidence, and with Leo, an undercover operative and Thomas's son, she climbs through the Los Angeles underworld taking casinos and territory. Then she works out that her whole rise has been a move in Thomas's bigger game.
