Henry needs the business saved, so Emma Brown is told to take Bella's place and marry Tommy Anderson. The rumours about Tommy had prepared her for something much worse than the handsome, wealthy man who actually turns up. Emma keeps saying out loud that this is a contract and nothing more, that it exists to keep two families happy. She is also falling for him, which was never in the arrangement.
